Course preview

A course preview component is meant to give prospective students a glimpse into what courses they may take if they enroll in a degree program. It can also be used to share general course information with current students.

It is not meant to serve as a full course catalog, or to replace the Illinois Course Explorer.

Once you’ve added a course preview component, enter:

  • A brief header for this section, e.g. “Courses you may take.”
    • A header is required for accessibility purposes, but you can choose for it to be hidden from view.
  • Select Add a course.
    • For each course, enter:
    • A title (required).
    • An optional succinct and clear text description. Focus on what kind of information would be most useful and interesting for a prospective student.
    • An optional syllabus link. Write a very brief text for the link (e.g. “Recent syllabus” or “Fall 2021 syllabus”) and upload a PDF. The maximum file size for a syllabus PDF is 10 megabytes.
    • Optional links to related pages on the site, like a program page, or faculty bio of the professor of this course. Choose the text that will display and the page (internal or external to your site) that you want to link to.
